THE LAST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH of January saw the start of our new series of special events, and for the children, they enjoyed their Praise Party, and for the older children we shared in Lift Him Up Celebration! Ian led this through and shared a little of his life story - how God helped a very shy, reserved person, who could hardly speak, let alone go out, be able to now stand in front of people and be a Salvation Army Officer. This was interspread with songs that included Our God Reigns; Let everything that has breath; O Happy Day and What a wonderful change in my life. Ian also shared some of the songs that he has penned over the years. The event was also a celebration for the 60th birthday of member Marie Yon. We celebrated with food and drink. After the meeting together, a number gathered back at the Salvation Army house for dinner, followed by training in safe and sound policies and producedues. The day concluded with an outreach meeting at The Gables

Sunday 15th January: Our Worship was led by Susan, who also spoke. In her reflections she shared how there are some things in life that are really important that we listen to and hear, true listening demands a response - demands that we ask difficult questions and change our behaviour as a result. As Moses said to the people of Israel - God says to us - Love the Lord Your God with all Your Heart, Soul, Mind and Spirit. Just as the sun is at the centre of the universe, so should the Son be at the centre of our world - without which, we spin to chaos. We live in darkness, but as the moon is a dark black rock - without the love of our Father and the light of Jesus in us - life is pointless and full of darkness.

THE FIRST IN OUR NEW MONTHLY SERIES OF LIFT HIM UP CELEBRATIONS is being held this Sunday! Each month will feature music, and stories that are worth being held. Maybe.... not this month though. Our own leader, Ian, will be sharing a little about his life and what has brought him to this very day - including how God called him to church leadership at a time when he found it hard to even go out the door. Join us at 10.am at courtwood school - and for children, join THE KIDS ALIVE PRAISE PARTY at 10am as well.

PRIOR TO TAKING UP LEADERSHIP OF THIS CHURCH, Our now leaders were asked to consider what we could be doing for our older younger people. In response to this, we have now launched IGNITE YOUTH GROUP, meeting on the 2nd Sunday in the month at 4pm. This is for all those aged 11 plus. Today was the first gathering, and so enjoyed that everyone is looking forward to the next time of meeting.

OUR MORNING CELEBRATION focussed on Walking with God, and launched our theme for the year - Growing Together. We explored the types of walks we take in life, and considered what our walk might actually be concerned to the walk we could be having by walking with Him. Our Sunday Challenge today was an invisable assult course, which caused great fun for most people!!! Following our celebration, we shared together in a Membership Forum which was well supported by the church and gave us opportunity to consider things for the future.

A NEW SERIES ON THURSDAY NIGHTS, encourage us to invest in ourselves, in each other and in our relationship with God. OASIS is a programme that each week focusses on different things, and last night Worship, with time to pray together and read the Word and see how it applys to our lives. Sadly it was not well attended, but a special time was shared together. Next week we meet at 4.30pm for family time, when we will share food together - please bring some with you. Tranportation is available by request.

KIDS ALIVE returned this evening with an exciting party for thirty children arranged by the team. Games and food were the order of the day and a great time was had by all.

OUR FIRST SUNDAY IN 2009 was a celebration breakfast, which of course featured Food and a journey through Acts 2:42-47 - recognising the new beginning for the church, and a refocus for us at the start of the new year. A study on this passage was interspread with the Sunday Challenge, which was a true or false test; and songs, as well as time to work through newspapers and pray over some of the issues being faced by people today. Songs included:- Come now is the time to worship; Help us to help each other Lord; Father I place into your hands; O Lord I want to sing Your Praises and I believe Jesus saves!

OUR FIRST SUNDAY GATHERING FOR 2009 will be a celebration breakfast - which will of course include sharing worship and The Word together in an informal but challenging way. Join us from 10am at the courtwood school, courtwood lane, forestdale.
